What our VCT floor service covers
Our team restores and maintains commercial vinyl composition tile floors across Rhode Island. We handle three jobs that get confused for each other, and each one runs on a different schedule. Strip and wax is a full restoration when the floor looks dull, yellowed, or scuffed past the point of buffing. Scrub and recoat is a lighter maintenance pass between full strips, every three to six months. Auto scrub and burnish is a high-speed maintenance pass for floors that already have good finish, used on retail and medical accounts that need their floors looking fresh between shifts. We work on VCT, vinyl composition tile, LVT, vinyl plank, and a range of other hard commercial floors. If you have polished concrete, terrazzo, or sealed concrete and aren't sure what your floor needs, walk it with us — we'll tell you straight.
Our 4-step floor restoration process
The same process every job, scaled to the floor. Walkthrough first, then prep, strip, neutralize, and three to five coats of commercial-grade finish with proper cure time between coats.
- Walkthrough and flooring assessment — we figure out whether you need a full strip or just a scrub and recoat.
- Furniture move and perimeter prep — chairs, mats, baseboards, vents taped before any stripper touches the floor.
- Strip, neutralize, dry — old finish cut, slurry picked up, floor neutralized, then full dry time before re-coating.
- Three to five coats of commercial wax with cure time — thin even coats, cure window between each, scheduled after hours so your team walks in to a finished floor.

What affects the cost of VCT floor cleaning
Every Rhode Island strip-and-wax project quotes on the walkthrough. The number depends on three things.
Three factors that shape every quote
Bigger floors are more efficient to set up and run. Heavier wax build-up takes longer to strip. Recurring contracts cost less per visit than crisis-mode one-time calls.
- Floor size — prep and machine setup is similar at any size, so larger floors are more efficient.
- Current floor condition — twelve coats of yellowed wax takes longer to strip than two coats in decent shape.
- Frequency or maintenance contract — yearly strip plus quarterly recoat costs less per visit than a once-every-three-years crisis call.
Wonderful job! Very professional and responsive. They cleaned a 20 year old VCT floor that had never been maintained. I didn't think it could even be saved, and it came out looking great.
Dr. Paul C · RI professional office, 20-year-old VCT floor restoration
Garrett was extremely informative and helpful in guiding us through the best way to clean one of our older poured concrete floors. He went above and beyond, dedicating his own time and effort to ensure the floor was as clean as possible.

FAQs
How much does it cost to strip and wax VCT tile?
VCT strip-and-wax pricing depends on the floor itself — square footage, how many coats of old finish need to come off, and whether you're on a recurring maintenance contract. We quote every project on a free walkthrough; most quotes come back within 24 hours.
How often should I strip and wax my VCT?
Most commercial VCT floors need a full strip and wax once a year. High-traffic retail, medical, and gym floors usually need it twice a year. Between strips, a scrub and recoat every three to six months keeps the finish strong.
Does VCT need to be waxed?
Yes. Vinyl composition tile is porous and will pick up scuffs, stains, and foot traffic damage without a wax finish protecting it. The finish takes the wear so the tile doesn't have to.
Can you get LVT professionally cleaned?
Yes. Luxury vinyl plank and LVT both clean up well with the same auto-scrub equipment we use on VCT, though LVT usually does not need waxing the way VCT does. We'll walk it and tell you what the floor needs.
How to clean VCT floors at home?
Sweep or dust-mop daily, then damp-mop with a neutral pH cleaner once a week. Avoid bleach and ammonia, which break down the wax finish. When the floor stops shining after mopping, it's time to call for a scrub and recoat.
Can you have vinyl floors professionally cleaned?
Yes. We clean sheet vinyl, vinyl plank, and vinyl composition tile across Rhode Island. Each floor type takes a slightly different process. The walkthrough is the cheapest way to find out what yours needs.
