What our post-construction cleaning covers

Construction and renovation work leaves behind dust no broom and no shop vac is going to fully solve. Drywall sanding, hardwood refinishing, demo, HVAC retrofits, and full builds all generate their own brand of mess, and we handle three phases of cleanup depending on where your project is. Rough cleaning is the pass between trades — bulk debris removal, sweep and shop-vac of work zones, prep so the next trade can start clean. Final cleaning is the substantial-completion clean: fine dust off every surface, including walls, baseboards, window tracks, vents, light fixtures, and door frames, glass cleaned inside and out, floor work, hardware polished, fixtures wiped. Touch-up cleaning handles the punch-list items the final walkthrough catches. We cover both residential renovation cleanups, including the hardwood-refinishing dust scenario every homeowner dreads, and commercial fit-outs, from retail buildouts at the mall to office and medical practice handoffs.

Our 4-step post-construction process

The same process every job, scaled to the project. Walkthrough or plans review first, then a project quote within 24 hours, an on-site clean with our own crew and equipment, and a final walkthrough you sign off on.

  1. Walkthrough or plans review — we walk the space with the GC, project manager, or homeowner, scope by area, and confirm what trades have left versus what is still pending.
  2. Project quote within 24 hours — post-construction work prices by project, scoping the rooms, phases included, dust load, and timeline.
  3. On-site clean — typical jobs run one to three days, we bring our own equipment, supplies, and team, and coordinate with whoever else is on-site.
  4. Final walkthrough — we don't leave until you sign off, the GC, owner, or homeowner walks the space with the lead cleaner to confirm it is delivery-ready.

What affects post-construction cleaning cost

Every post-construction project we quote prices on the walkthrough or plans review. The number depends on the build phase, the surface mix at handoff, and how much dust the job leaves behind.

Three factors that shape every quote

Final-only cleans price differently from rough-plus-final. Bigger projects are more efficient to mobilize per square foot. And the dust and debris load varies by the kind of work the trades did.

  1. Project scope — a final-only clean prices differently from a rough-plus-final job, which reflects two visits with two different scopes.
  2. Facility size — bigger projects get a slightly better per-square-foot rate because mobilization costs are similar at any size.
  3. Debris and dust load — a drywall reno generates a different cleanup volume than an HVAC retrofit or a new build with five trades.

I was about to move into a new house, and had the hardwood floors sanded and refinished before moving in. That process left a fine film of wood dust over everything—literally on every surface (walls, cabinets, baseboards, etc). In a panic, I reached out to NKCS and asked if they could do a "post construction" cleaning to get rid of the dust, on very short notice (only 2 days). I'm so happy they could accommodate me. Maria and her crew were very thorough and did a great job.

Erica Gregg · residential renovation, hardwood-refinish dust cleanup, North Kingstown

Garrett and his team did an outstanding job cleaning our Perfumania location in preparation for our grand opening. From start to finish, their professionalism, attention to detail, and work ethic were truly impressive. The store looked immaculate, with spotless floors, crystal-clear glass, and not a speck of dust in sight.

Our basement (newly built condo) was a mess — builder residual. Garrett did an incredible job cleaning — including walls, windows, crevices, spiders — every inch of the basement.

FAQs

How much does post-construction cleaning cost?

Post-construction cleans quote by the project, not by the hour or by the square foot. The number depends on the build phase (rough versus final), the surface mix at handoff (new flooring, glass, fixtures, finish trim), and the dust load left by the trades. The walkthrough or plans review is where we set the quote. Most quotes come back within 24 hours.

What's included in a post-construction clean?

A final-phase post-construction clean covers fine dust removal from every surface, including walls, baseboards, window tracks and frames, light fixtures, vents, and door frames. Floors get vacuumed and mopped or stripped and waxed if needed. Glass cleaned inside and out. Hardware polished. Fixtures wiped.

Do you clean before the final walkthrough?

Yes. For commercial GCs, we typically do the substantial-completion clean a day or two before the final walkthrough so the space presents the way you want it to. If the walkthrough catches anything, we come back for a touch-up clean before delivery.

How long does post-construction cleaning take?

Most residential renovation cleanups take one or two days. Commercial fit-outs of 3,000 to 10,000 sq ft typically take two to three days. Larger builds run longer. The walkthrough produces a more accurate timeline. We can run a larger crew when the deadline is tight.

Do you remove construction debris and dumpster materials?

We handle leftover residual, sweep and shop-vac the work zones, and bag what's left. We do not haul construction debris off-site or fill dumpsters as a primary scope. If the GC has a dumpster on-site, we stage the bagged residual for their removal. If not, we coordinate with you on disposal.

Can you handle large commercial post-construction projects?

Yes. We've cleaned retail fit-outs at Warwick Mall, restaurant builds, and multi-room commercial spaces. For larger projects, we scale the crew to the timeline. Tell us the square footage, the delivery date, and the trades still finishing, and we'll quote it.

Are your post-construction cleaners insured?

Yes, our team is fully insured. We can provide a current Certificate of Insurance on request before the first visit.
